Note to self ~ always travel with chocolate!

May 31, 2011 by DanicasDaily 13 Comments

Happy Tuesday all!  Is it weird that I can be running late to catch the train, but, I STILL will make sure I make up a delicious eggwich to take with me BEFORE I leave the house?! LOL.

For the record, I made it to the train stop just as they announced the train was arriving ~ that including hauling in a bunch of stuff for work and spilling my water ALL over the floor as soon as I stepped on the train ~ awesome!

Egg Sandwich

* 2 slices of Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain Bread (3 points+)

* 1 “fried” egg (2 points+)

After my crazy train ride in, it felt great to get into the gym for a sweat session.  I really pushed myself today doing an AWESOME 35 minute HIIT.

I did 90 second run/walk intervals and changed up my speed every 15-30 seconds with my runs ranging from 5.0 – 6.8 mph).

I continued my workout indirectly by spending the next hour running all around our office hanging signs, re-arranging things and even moving a pallet across the office (with my arm muscles ~ not a pallet jack!)

My mid morning snack involved one these Brown Cow 0% Greek Yogurts that I picked up at Sam’s Club ~ an entire 12 pack was only $10.

IMG_2582

They come in blueberry & strawberry and both flavors are 3 points+ each.  I really like them ~ it’s a nice change from my usual plain.  I mixed mine with a banana.

IMG_2583

I picked up a pack of the Everything Bagel Thins the other day when I bought the cinnamon raisin ones.  I REALLY want to like these, but, they are just OK to me.  They still have a diet bread taste and they get all over your hands when you eat them Winking smile

IMG_2599

* Thomas Everything Bagel Thin (3 points+)

* 2 oz Honey Ham and 1 oz Honey Turkey (3 points+)

* 1 slice of the REAL DEAL Pepper Jack Cheese (3 points+)

* Organic Greens

* Trader Joe’s Sweet & Spicy Mustard (I LOVE this mustard)

Served up with more of my grab n go salad mix topped with 1 Tbsp Ranch Almond Slices and 2 Tbsp TJ’s Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette (3 points+)

IMG_2600

I was completely WISHING I had stashed some chocolate in my bag when I pulled out my “train snacks”.  I did still LOVE my Babybel and nectarine though (1 points+)

IMG_2609

When I walked in the door, I decided it was better to have Dessert First Open-mouthed smile

IMG_2610

After having my Mini Chocolates yesterday, I learned that you can have 9 g of chocolate for 1 points+

IMG_2613

The roasted cacao nibs remind me of espresso beans ~ they are super crunchy and make the chocolate taste even richer/darker.  A little really does go a long way.

IMG_2618

Dinner tonight was FAST…..all I had to do was grill up this carne asada, add salad and all the fixin’s then dig in!

IMG_2621

5 points+ for 4ounces.

IMG_2619

My REAL motivator for making this salad (other than having The Husband tell me he loves me a million times and asking if he can have steak for dessert too! lol) was eating more of that delicious POM Guacamole.

IMG_2630

IN THE MIX:

* 2 cups of Grab n Go Salad

* 2 Tbsp Trader Joe’s Pepper Jack Cheese (1 points+)

* 3 ounces Carne Asada (3 points+)

* 1 Tbsp Black bean, Corn, Guacamole Salsa (1 points+)

* 1/4 cup GUACAMOLE! (2 points+)

All topped with salsa ~ simple, easy and delicious!

IMG_2623

NEW AT FRIENDS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

* Super easy 4 points+ Salted Cinnamon Caramel Corn

Q’s

What is one thing you ALWAYS carry on you no matter what?

Cell phone, wallet, keys and snacks (seriously ~ in that order!) lol.  The Husband actually teases me because I won’t leave the house without snacks Open-mouthed smile

I am now thinking I NEED to add chocolate to that list!

Night all!

    That salad looks so yummy, even at 6am, lol. I try to keep a thinkThin Crunch bar in my purse, usually the white chocolate dipped mixed nuts, really good for 5P+, and 10g protein; my goto snack after a late yoga class Wednesdays!

    Hi Danica,
    Just wanted to say thanks again for heading me in the direction of one of your great food finds.
    After my ww meeting yesterday, I went to Trader Joe’s and bought that Margherita Puff Pastry pizza you told us about.
    It was awesome! Totally worth the 10 points for the whole thing!!
    And ya can’t beat $1.99 for lunch.
    In fact, I keep thinking about it. Good thing I bought two, might have to have the other one for lunch today. ;~)

    You are responsible for so many of my new favorites, thanks!!
    Kathy

    I’ve been meaning to ask… where do you get your carne asada? I live in AZ, so perhaps I can’t get it here, but I’ve checked Trader Joe’s, Costco, Safeway and Fry’s (which is the Kroger – don’t think you have an equivalent in CA). The carne asada looks so good and easy! Hope I am able to find it somewhere!!!

    HI Janet & Megan,

    I buy the Bill Bailey’s Carne Asada at Sam’s Club and sometimes they have it at Super Target.

    Here is a link to the companies website – if you can’t find it, maybe you can have your local store stock it?

    Thanks,

    I went back to Trader Joe’s today after a two month hiatus (I really wanted that kale in a bag). They have small bags of chocolate-covered caramels that are 7 PP for the bag. A quarter of the bag would probably satisfy you. You gotta love LITTLE chocolate!

    I always carry chapstick, no matter what.

    I have to tell you I am SO thankful that you do these daily food posts with points plus. I’ve just recently started following your blog and every time I see what you eat I think, “Wow! She gets to have a lot of food!!” and then I count the points and I think, “Dude!! I could be eating all that food too!”
    I’ve been losing consistently since joining WW (again) in March, but I already find myself in a rut, sticking to the foods I know are “safe” and not trying new stuff.
    Thanks for the inspiration!

    I always carry cell phone, keys, sunglasses, a bottle of water and my gum of course. I need to buy stock in the gum that I buy or a case of it because I’m always out it seems. lol

    Hi Danica,
    I live in Phoenix, AZ and get the carne asada at Costco. It’s not in the normal meat area. It’s more in the deli type foods area. Just to let Megan know. If I remember right also Safeway carries it too. 🙂
