Do you all ever have weekends that as it is coming to an end you think, WOW, that was such a blast and you are not sad to see it end? That is exactly how our weekend went down, other than, it STILL continues today :D But, more on that in a bit, let’s get down to some Weekend Recaps!
SATURDAY
I woke up bright and early to tackle some todo’s before we left down for the day. I wasn’t really feeling too hungry so I opted for some Almond Butter Toast.
2 Slices TJ’s FF Multi-Grain Bread
1 Tbsp Freshly Ground Almond Butter
4 Pts all together with some Starbuck’s African Blend Coffee.
After breakfast we headed up to the Sacramento Habitat for Humanity. The Husband had heard this is an awesome place to score some great deals on home building supplies as builders get rid of things they can’t use.
It was an interesting experience, but, I have to say, I LOVED the sticker on this toilet…
I mean, really, do you really have to worry about people diving into toilets??? 😉
After spending hours of scouring, I snacked on some Annie’s bunnies as we drove to the next store.
The next stop was HD Supply where we checked out new counter tops. Ahhhh, I cannot wait to replace our 1950’s counter tops…..the last thing we need in our kitchen to have the renovation complete. These are the two colors we were pondering since they will match out floors. I think we like the one on the right the best……Which is your fav?
I LOVE window shopping for our home projects, but, I have to say the BEST part, was our next stop for lunch (FOOD, of course LOL). I finally got my Jack’s Urban Eats fix that I have been wanting forever now!
This is the BEST SALAD place and concept ever ~ you get to pick and choose what you want in your salad and they toss it all together with their homemade dressings. Here is what I had on mine:
* Mixed Greens
* Candied Walnuts
* Cranberries
* Strawberries
* Pickled red onions
* Cucumbers
* Garbanzo/Kidney Beans
* BONUS topping ~ Marinated Mushrooms
Topped with homemade balsamic vinegar…..TOTAL LOVE! I wish EVERY town had a Jacks!
Oh, I also stole a couple bites of The Husband’s homemade mac n cheese ~ how fun is the shape of their pasta?!
After lunch we crashed our nieces Sleepover Party 😀 and then made a quick stop to pick up a few things. I found a NEW to me SOBE Water Flavor ~ Acai Fruit Punch. This flavor brings back some serious memories….it reminds me of that blue Tropical Bunch with the Hawaiian guy on it that you used to get in school. DELISH….it might be my new favorite flavor.
Dinner was at a place called Hand Me A Rib ~ a BBQ place that The Husband has really been wanting to try. I ordered their boneless bbq pork rib sandwich with pickles, onions and mild sauce ~ HOLY YUM! This was smoky, spicy, sweet and salty all in one. The best part was it was pretty lean.
SUNDAY
After getting my HUMAN CARD from The Husband, I whipped up one of our FAVORITE Valentine’s Day Breakfasts ~ Double Cinnamon French Toast!!!
I picked up a loaf of that AMAZING Grateful Bread Cinnamon Swirl Bread while we were at Jack’s yesterday. I LOVE the cinnamon swirls in it it’s like having cinnamon roll french toast ~ AWESOME!
After breakfast we made the drive up to my sister’s house. The Boys went to have a “pop” at the local casino (um, ya, because I am sure they only went for the FREE soda LOL). My sis and I headed out for our run doing laps around this BEAUTIFUL lake.
It was such a beautiful and sunny day ~ running around the lake was so refreshing. We ended up doing 6 miles before calling it good. Maybe next weekend we will hit that 7-9 mile mark….I have been sort of hitting a wall trying to pass 6 miles this go round, but, I think I just need to take the plunge and do it.
On our way back my sis and I split a PB&J Lara Bar ~ I LOVE Lara bars – and this one did not disappoint. It totally tastes like PB&J complete with nuts – LOVE it!
We met up with The Boys at Koto Grille for lunch. I thought this place would be awesome because their menu looked AMAZING.
I have to confess that I ate a few too many chips and didn’t portion out my usual 12 to savor. But, I am ok with it since I am sure I earned it during my run.
I LOVED their salsas…mild, medium and hot (not pictured)
First up was our appetizers which I had such high hopes for.
Ahi de Punta Mita
Tuna, orange and ancho peppers with jicama
Doesn’t it look AMAZING?? Ya, it wasn’t LOL. It was super sweet with no salt to offset it at al. I can’t believe I didn’t LOVE something that had AVOCADO, TUNA, JICAMA and spice….oh that was another thing – there wasn’t any spice to it 🙁
For my entree, I tried to venture out from my usual tacos.
Camarones al Diablo
Sauteed prawns in a zesty chipotle sauce with mushrooms, onions and garlic
HOLY SPICINESS!!! I managed to eat my rice, GUACAMOLE and about 4 shrimp because it was so hot it was like eating straight chipotles. So, SO bummed since I thought this place sounded amazing. However for the price you pay, I didn’t think the food matched up.
We hung out gambling for a bit. The Husband had his usual crazy luck and won $90 off a $0.30 slot machine spin :) On our way home as we drove out of the hills, we watched another AMAZING CALIFORNIA SUNSET. Pictures really do not do it justice at all.
We were not really hungry for the nice dinner I had planned so we opted for some snacks.
The Artichoke Jalapeño dip The Husband picked out didn’t have too bad of stats.
The New York Pita chips have pretty good stats too. However, they are not as good as Stacy’s……They reminded me of saltines…not bad, but, not as crack like addictive like Stacy’s.
My snack platter included a little pepper jack cheese, pita chips, dip and a bunch of cantaloupe.
FUN TIMES!!! I am off to get ready to go on my “SURPRISE” trip with The Husband. The last time he took me for a surprise trip was when we got engaged…Well, since we are already married I guess it can’t really be like that :D I can’t wait to see what he has planned.
I will be back tonight with a recap of today, maybe that Meatloaf recipe and I WILL catch up with your emails, etc.
Have a AWESOME day all!
That french toast sounds fantastic; I don’t think I’ve ever had too much cinnamon for me!
That does sound like a fabulous weekend!!! Have fun wherever you go today 🙂
Your husband IS lucky! I’m jealous =)
Lovely weekend!
xo
K

uhhh danica… i just drooled all over my keyboard. everything looked amazing! hope you had the most amazing vday, miss you much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
WOW what a great weekend! that french toast looks SO INCREDIBLE! i need that asap! ps ur husband is soo sweet!
Ohhh all your eats look amazing!
As for the counter top, I would choose the one on the right, the lighter one. Hubby remodeled our kitchen while I was on a business trip last month and it’s cool. Still some stuff to finish and although I had wanted the theme to be Southwest, the red is a bit bright for that LOL so we are now going with a Mexicali theme.
The sticker on that toilet is hilarious!
