Role Reversal

October 12, 2009 by DanicasDaily 17 Comments

Hi all! I hope your day flew by like mine.  I LOVE it when MONDAYs fly by because that is always the toughest day of the week.  Tuesday (Biggest Loser day) is my favorite day aside from Fridays & the weekends šŸ™‚

I honestly think that my good deeds came back to me today a la The Husband.  I spent the entire weekend helping him out so I think he wanted to make my life easier today.  I am not complaining though because the ā€œrole reversalā€ was completely awesome!

I started off today with Trader Joe’s 0% Fat Free Blueberry Greek yogurt topped with Nature’s Path Pumpkin Flax Plus Granola.  I LOVE this combo and honestly cannot get enough of this pumpkin crunchy granola.  I think it’s my favorite topper right now.

Mid morning I snacked on a 1/2 c TJ’s lightly salted pistachios.

The Husband surprised me for lunch today by bringing me my FAVORITE chicken tacos from Vasquez deli.  They make everything there including their tortillas from scratch ~ amazing!  I had 2 chicken tacos and stole a couple bites of his cheesy quesadilla.

My lunch kept me full all day so I didn’t have an afternoon snack.  I had a BIG surprise when I got home.  1st ~ The Husband was doing Laundry and 2nd he was doing the dishes ~ woohoo!  But, it gets better.  Are you all ready for this? Ready to mark The Husband making dinner for the 5th time ever!!!  I definitely think that might be one benefit of blogging ~ he wants to cook too šŸ˜€

He presented me with this appetizer ~ some tomato slices with sea salt.

IMG_3031

Then, he walked me over to the snack drawer.  I have him put all his candy in a drawer so I don’t eat it.  If I don’t see it, I ā€œusuallyā€ won’t eat it.  Can you guess which side was his??? Well, in his sweetness, he saw my favorite gummy bears at the store today and picked up a bag.  I have LOVED Haribo Gold-Bears ever since I went to Europe 11 years ago.

IMG_3033

I sat down as he ā€œslaved awayā€ cooking dinner and chatted.  While chatting he brought me my FAVORITE ā€œMockTailā€ ~ 100% POM Wonderful plus Perrier plus ice!

IMG_3043

The wild neighborhood bunny was out today.  I really think he wanted to get in on the special treatment from The Husband.  Isn’t he the cutest?!  He has one paw that is white too but he wouldn’t let me take a picture of it.

IMG_3030

The Husband in action BBQ’ing!

IMG_3040

I heard him shout ā€œwoohoo! we have a baby!ā€  I was like, what?!  I thought he was talking about the bunny.  When I went outside he proceeded to tell me that is what happens when the button pops out on the Tri Tip! Ohhhh ~ he said to tell you all his secret tri tip tip too.  If you slice your tri tip up while it’s cooking, it cooks faster….it works perfectly for the person who can’t wait for it to cook :D  He is so funny!

IMG_3045

HIs secret pasta side dish was Annie’s 5-Grain Elbows & White Cheddar ~ this is honestly my FAVORITE Annie’s Mac.  The 5-grain pasta really adds the perfect texture and flavor ~ plus the nutritional stats are better with all that grainy goodness.

IMG_3042

While everything cooked, he prepared a big salad for us.  I LOVE his thinking – he wanted to make a salad big enough that we could have it for tomorrow too.

IMG_3048

He knows the way to my heart ~ plus AVOCADO!!!I really think every salad should have AVOCADO….

IMG_3049

I had 2 thin slices of this fantastic Red Wine Pepper Corn Tri Tip.  I am not usually a fan of pre-marinated meats, but, this one rocked.

IMG_3054

Annie’s Mac-A-Liciousness!  Can you believe this was prepared without milk since we were out?!  The secret ~ quick drain it and add 1 Tbsp butter.  By quick drain, you let the liquid drain in the strainer but put it back in the pan before it fully drains.  Totally a made up cooking technique by us but it works šŸ˜€

IMG_3057

Colorful & crunchy salad.

IMG_3056

All together with our pumpkin family.  I used Trader Joe’s Low-Fat Cranberry Walnut Gorgonzola dressing on my salad.  Dinner was awesome. I swear it tastes better when you don’t have to cook it ~ dontcha think?

IMG_3058

After dinner, he even went grocery shopping with me.  I am not sure what I did to deserve all the special treatment, but, I seriously need to remember it ALL.   I am completely up for a repeat anytime šŸ˜€ (hint, hint) LOL…….LOVE HIM!

I am off to prepare my 15 minute speech about the positives of blogging for tomorrow.  I really want to dig into my new US Magazine and/or bake my new Pumpkin Bread though……

Have a great night all!  See you tomorrow after my Blog Talk and hopefully BEFORE The Biggest Loser!

You got spoiled rotten! Is it silly that the highlight for me would have been the fact that he saw your favorite candy and picked it up for you? Its just so thoughtful…

Those eats look fantastic! And that box full of goodies – YUM! I LOVE Haribo, I’ve been eating them for as long as I can remember, my grandparents would also bring them back from their trips to Germany.
I just got some yesterday too from a friend of mine who is from Germany, her dad brought me back some from a trip!

aw way to go hubs. I love it when they do surprising things!! with mac n cheese you can take about a 1/4 cup of the pasta water that you drain and use it instead of milk, I learned this when tryiing to find dairy free options
