Happy Wednesday all! Thanks for sharing all of your favorite things on yesterday’s post ~ I now have a few new things that I NEED to try. Do you all ever watch “Serious TV”? I ALWAYS call it “Serious TV” whenever we are flipping through channels and we come across the local stations that have government and city presentations. You know the ones that show your the local city, county, state and councils in “action”.
It is sort of like the comic strips ~ you are reading along and you see Garfield and the Peanuts, then, you come across the “Serious Comics” like Batman ~ Same Concept!
Make sense? I am pretty sure it was at this point I lost The Husband on my storyline for tonight.
Well, this week I get to have my 15 minutes of fame by being and “extra” in the audience on serious TV….Ok, well, it’s not really as exciting as it sounds ~ I get to be in the Board Room all week and it’s shown on “Serious TV” all this week. It’s fun really…..though if you are geeky like me and love seeing how all the work you do comes together.
Before heading out this morning, I whipped up 5 minute Cheesy Sausage Breakfast Burrito for The Husband and I (6 points+).
I had actually brought another batch of Trader Joe’s Egg Salad with Salt & Pepper Crisps, but, I quickly through that idea out the window when my co-worker mentioned……..
I picked 2 entrees ~ Fire Cracker Chicken above (6 points+) and String Bean Chicken below (4 points+)….
Then, swapped my chow mein/fried rice for steamed veggies to save on points+. ONLY 10 points+ ~ for my entire meal….
I was totally “green” today by getting my veggies on and um, recycling my pictures from a few weeks ago for Panda since I inhaled everything, THEN, remembered I probably should’ve taken a picture.
Can I just say it now ~ I seriously have THE BEST HUSBAND in the world. He knew this week was going to be crazy, so he put on his Zesty Cook shirt and had dinner ready as soon as I walked in the door.
Simple salads topped with Newman’s Lite Lime Vinaigrette (1 points+)
Alexia Chipotle Sweet Potato Fries!!! You get 30 fries for 3 points+….I totally went back for more once I realized that!
Sweet & Spicy BBQ Chicken (6 points+) ~ probably one of my all time favorites too!
As I sat down to post, he dropped on TWO Dove Hearts (2 points+)….THE END!
I LOVE it whenever he cooks! Then, again, I also totally know if I stock the house with steak that he will cook tomorrow too
Q’s
You know I have to ask ~ Have you all ever been on TV? If so, what was it for?
My only other Claim to Fame was being on The View to watch and meet Lisa Lillian, aka Hungry-Girl.
Tomorrow is another LONG day, but, I have a chance to be on “serious TV” all over again.
Night all!

I was on TV once. It was a local dance show from the 80’s called Dancin On Air! They just showed reruns of it a few weekends ago and my kids were dying to watch to see if they could catch a glimpse of me! All I can say is …80’s + big hair + bad outfits = me cringing watching all that again! LOL! What were we thinking?!
Good luck on “Serious TV”! 😉

I’ve never been on TV, but Danica, I think you need your own show on Food Network! I’m serious! 🙂

I’ve been on local tv when I was like 7 or 8 and in girl scouts, we used to have a show called the Wallace and Ladmo show and I got picked for a Ladmo bag which had all kinds of yummy treats in it. That was my only claim to fame. Lol

Danica – how are you able to calculate the Points Plus for restaurant food when you do not know how it is prepared? I always equate chinese food with high points due to the oil, the batter-fried chicken, etc. It seems like when I purchase a Lean Cuisine or similar packaged Chinese meal, it’s high in points for a very small quantity so I usually just avoid.
I’m totally going to make those sweet potato fries!
DanicasDaily says
Hi Susie Q,
Majority of the restaurants I visit have their nutritional information available online so I will always reference that first. When it is not available, I will look it up on Weight Watchers online or in the Weight Watchers books to see if they have the points+ values for the foods I am choosing. There is actually a whole section on Chinese food you can look up. If there is nothing available, I will often find similar foods and use the points+ values and/or breakdown all the components of the food so I can estimate the points+ value.
For my meal above, I used the Panda Express Nutritional Information and sometimes their Nutrition Calculator ~ they have delicious fresh and relatively healthy Chinese food. You can check it out here.

PS–I meant to ask you about the fries – do you have any problem getting them to crisp on the outside without burning? I’d bought them on the recommendation of a friend but haven’t prepared yet; however, she said she wished they were a little more crisp on the outside. Wondered if you tried a broiler or convection oven, or if you think they are ok just prepared as directed.
DanicasDaily says
They do turn out crispy but some of the smaller ones do tend to burn if you leave them in too long.

I am looking to make that burrito too–you had me at “cheesy.” It looks delicious. What do you put on it?
DanicasDaily says
Hi Morgan,
I used a tortilla, cheese, Morning Star Breakfast Sausage and a “fried” egg.

Yep – have been on TV 3 different times. Made a fool of myself the last one, I think. I was interviewed regarding a murder trial going on in my city and told the interviewer reasons why the defendent was and was not going to receive a fair trial. What can I say? I am always looking at both sides of an issue.

In my 20s we lived in Hollywood and it was easy to get in the studio audiences. I was on the old Truth or Consequences with Bob Barker. Some of us had to dress like Indians, ride tricycles shooting arrows at the “cowboys”, while circling their wagons. Had to fall over on the trike! I won a $100 prize and bought a bathroom scale! haha. Thinking about weight 40 years ago when I was quite thin…..
Colleen says
Where can we find a husband like yours?
DanicasDaily says
Awwww, thanks Colleen! I am pretty lucky ~ he is a great guy! He said to tell you he is for rent 😀

How fun the hubs cooked! I love when my husband cooks but there is no measuring, no holding back on the olive oil and butter, which is why he makes the best fried rice!
My twin sister and I were on Oprah – way back before she was syndicated, and I was actually pregnant with my daughter Hannah – who will be 20 next month! 😀 You can see the video below.

We were on our local news for being the couple to have the first baby in Eastern NC for 2012:) What girl doesn’t want to be on TV less than 24 hours after having a baby?! haha I was nervous the whole time, but it was a neat experience
Life's a Bowl says
That’s so cool you got to meet Hungry Girl- I love reading her daily emails and recipes to get some ideas… I’ve been on the news before for sports but nothing too exciting 😛
Laura Jane @ Recovering Chocoholic says
That pic really makes me want sweet potato fries. 30 fries for 3 points isn’t that bad. I’ve never been on TV at all. I knew someone who got invited to be one of the kids in Sound of Music but backed out because it involved too much of a commitment.

Back in 1991, I sent one of my Grandma Brooms to the Home Show with Rob Weller and Sandy Hill, hoping they might show it on the air. They ended up calling me and inviting me to do a segment on their show showing some of my crafts. They flew me out from North Carolina and put me up at the Roosevelt Hotel across the street from Gramen’s (sp) Chinese Theatre. Had my hair and makeup done – the works. I was petrified up until the moment of my segment and then it was like someone else took over my body. So much fun!
