Shop til you drop & My Mini Weekly Menu!

May 15, 2011 by DanicasDaily 21 Comments

Happy Sunday all!  I think today we officially shopped until we dropped….literally.  The Husband gets MAJOR kudos for spending like 8 hours shopping with me (and him too!) LOL.  I do have to say though, I got everything I needed to get and he is still undecided Winking smile

I am kinda proud I resisted taking pictures to show you all since I’m working on not taking like 100+ pics a day….but, leave a comment below if you wanna see because you know that justifies it Open-mouthed smile

I didn’t get a Wii, but, I DID EYE them a few times…..Do any of you know if you can play DVD’s in your Wii? I am all about 2 in 1 appliances that take up less space.

Before we headed out, I had a Turkey Meatloaf Muffin and it was AWESOME!  It’s totally normal to have meatloaf in the morning ~ it’s the “other” sausage” (3 points+)

IMG_1341

I actually cut it up and made mini meatloaf sandwiches on one slice of of Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain Bread topped with ICBINB Olive Oil Spray (1 points+)

IMG_1338

Plus Melon!

IMG_1339

How AWESOME is the Starbuck’s guy?!  SEE, they know a Coconut Dirty Latte is a good thing Winking smile  I tried it with 1/2 a pump of mocha today since I felt like 1 pump of mocha and 1 pump of coconut was too sweet.  It was……ready????

MMMMM, good! Yup, I am totally a dork like that (4 points+)

IMG_1345

I told The Husband he could pick ANYWHERE he wanted for lunch and I would buy since he was being a super trooper.  He picked Mary’s Pizza shack which actually made me quite happy.

He picked their Mini Meatloaf Sliders for an appetizer….OMG!  I will be re-creating these this week (maybe tomorrow!)  I am pretty sure I made sounds eating these lol.

Pizza dough buns + homemade meatballs + homemade red sauce + CHEESE! (4 points+)

IMG_1349

I LOVE their salads and often get them for meals.  However, I knew I wanted their Pizza and Salad Lunch combo and went for it.

Side Salad with 1 Tbsp ranch, fork dipped (4 points+)

IMG_1351

CHEESY MUSHROOM PIZZA…It is my FAVORITE pizza at Mary’s. (6 points+)

IMG_1357

Even though I packed snacks to take with me shopping, I didn’t NEED any.  I am really proud that I RESISTED frozen yogurt after lunch because it was right next door.  I was full and would’ve been eating it, well, because I LOVE froyo! Gold Star!

I LOVE making HUGE salads for dinner when they are packed with several types of crunchy, protein, NUTS, cheese and delicious dressing.  Who says Chef Salads have to be boring?!

IMG_1367

* 2 cups Organic Mixed Greens

* VEGGIE CRUNCH = Organic snap peas, carrots, yellow bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, green onions

* 1 ounce each lean Brown Sugar Ham and Honey Turkey (2 points+)

* 1 slice Jarlsberg Lite Swiss Cheese (1 points+)

* NUTTY CRUNCH = 1 1/2 Tbsp Chickpeas, 1 Tbsp Sunflower Seeds, 1 Tbsp Ranch Sliced Almonds (2 points+)

* POWER UP YOUR PROTIEN ~ 1 hard boiled egg (2 points+)

If you all have trouble peeling hard boiled eggs, you NEED to follow these steps for the Perfectly Hard Boiled Egg ~ works EVERY TIME!

IMG_1365

Topped with 2 Tbsps Newman’s Light Lime Vinaigrette.  My entire salad was 9 points+)

IMG_1370

I “peeled” my own orange using one of my awesome readers tips….The Husband ate half though (I usually have him peel two so I get one…guess I should’ve made two!)

    The Wii doesn’t play DVDs, but the Xbox 360 does… and then you could buy a Kinect to go with it and play active games. 😉 You practically need it, right?

    How did you peel the orange? I also love oranges and hate peeling them. No matter how much you pick at them you never get all the pith off!!

    Although the Wii doesn’t play DVDs you can watch Netflix Instant on it! I’m with Maria though, if I had the option back when I bought my Wii I totally would have gone with the XBox 360 with Kinect. Those games see way more fun.

    Love the Turkey Meatloaf muffins. Made them for dinner last night and DH went back for seconds and thirds (I think). He doesn’t like peppers, but since they weren’t green, I think they”re ok. And I have two saved for lunch this week. Served them with the Alexia sweet potato fries. Yumm… But the star of the meal was the muffins. Keep those recipes coming..

    I slice my oranges the same way! So much easier to eat and less messy 🙂

    Mmm… those sliders look awesome! I’ve made pizza dough buns with Trader Joe’s premade pizza dough and it works great!

    a. I HAVE to try “peeling” my egg that way!
    b. You can make your Wii play DVDs with a little finagling. I never did this, but I do subscribe to Netflix, so I can watch tons of movies and shows on the Wii. And there are PLENTY of sit down games for your husband, but I promise you, if you start having friends over for “tournament” or “league” games, he’ll start to REALLY enjoy the “stand up” games too. =-)

    Arg you are my idol right now! I am having the hardest time acknowledging that I am full and don’t need a snack. >.<! I keep finding myself snacking even though I'm not hungry and the worst part is, I haven't even been tracking some of it! I almost want to throw in the towel for this whole week and start again next week but I know that isn't the answer.

    I have both a wii and a xbox 360 (w/kinect) and have to say the kinect is about 100x better. With the workout games you can get with it it's way more of a full body workout than the wii having to use the remote. It also can play dvd's unlike the silly wii without tampering.

    Let's see what's on my menu this week…tonight I'm making a batch of Japanese curry and since it's finally nice here I intend to grill a lot too! I can't wait til our farmer's market opens!

    I love love love my XBOX w/ Kinect! It is so much fun and very cool. I’ve never owned any kind of gaming system before this, so I don’t have a comparison, but I highly recommend this! The sports games & the Dance Central are *must haves* IMHO.

    I love, love, love meatball sammies – my Italian husband doesn’t even like meatballs – what gives?

    I have an idea for a crab rangoon breakfast wonton – in my head it turns out really good – we’ll see!

    Happy Monday!

    I was wondering how you came to 6 points plus with the huge piece of pizza? I would think the bread alone was more then 6 points +. I have the wii and its ok but I so wish the xbox 360 w kinect was an option when I bought the wii I probably would have went that way

    HI Jenna,

    I looked up the options in Weight Watchers online tracker for a large slice of cheese pizza. They ranged from 4 for skinny crust, 5 for thin crust, 6 for original crust and 7 for pan/thick crust.

    I just wanted to throw in another opinion about Wii vs. Xbox. We have had both. We had an Xbox and then got a Kinect for it, then bought a Wii that we thought would be fun for the kids. Well, the kids weren’t really into it and after playing the Kinect, we traded the Wii and all it’s accessories in for PS3. I say Xbox Kinect, 100%!! “Your Shape Fitness Evolved” is super fun and addictive, as is Dance Central!

    Love the blog by the way. 🙂
