Spin it!

March 18, 2013 by DanicasDaily 10 Comments

Happy Biggest Loser Finale Day all!  For those watching the show, who are you  rooting for?  I have loved all the contestants this year and would love to see all of them win…however, if I have to pick one, I pick Danni!  I totally earned my “butt time” tonight to watch The Biggest Loser Finale by heading over to Spin Class today at lunch.  I cannot even remember the last time I went to Spin Class (a couple years?), but,  I have to say as hard as it was, I had fun and can’t wait to go back.

I kicked off this morning with a cheesy, spicy Healthy Egg Roll.(SF + 1 WPA) – 4 points+

3 hours later, I snacked on a light string cheese and banana so I wouldn’t be starving when spin class was over.  (SF) – 2 points+

I absolutely love the fact that the gym is a short walk from our office and they have a bunch of 45 minute lunch time classes.  I definitely plan on going to as many as I can ~ M-O-T-I-V-A-T-I-O-N!

Lunch involved a little of the CSA Salad blend I put together yesterday topped with 2 Tbsp. Chick Peas. (SF) – 1 points+

IMG_3241

Plus a Hard Boiled Egg for protein staying power….(SF) – 2 points+

IMG_3247

All topped off with a heaping cup of Vegan Pasta Salad that was so delicious no salad dressing was needed. (SF) – 4 points+

IMG_3248

After lunch I wanted something sweet to finish ~ 2 tasty mandarins.

I love days when you can just check everything off your list that you set out to do.  Today was one of those days which is definitely a good thing for a Monday. I snacked on this watermelon, pineapple, berry fruit bowl with decaf coffee and 2 Tbsp. of mixed nuts as I worked the afternoon away. (SF + 2 WPA) – 2 points+

IMG_3254

All day long I had been thinking about making Spaghetti Pizza ~ something my mom used to make for us.  There was only one “glitch” in my plan ~ it is the one recipe you really do need to have actual spaghetti pasta ~ no other noodle will do.

I was honestly too hungry to head out to the store just to buy pasta, so I ended up making one of my other noodley favorites ~ Vegetable Gyoza with Edamame Soycatash

IMG_3258

I doubled the Vegetable Potstickers (I got them at Trader Joe’s) because I knew The Husband would eat all 8 in the recipe.

Then, I topped my serving with a little extra Sriracha Spice. (SF + 4 WPA) – 7 points+

IMG_3268

I have been eyeing some of The Chicks & Bunnies The Husband brought home ~ I have a feeling that might just end up being dessert.

STATS:

  • Active Link ~ 3 Activity Points, 129% of my goal
  • 22 daily points+
  • SF + 4 WPA, 40 WPA remaining

It’s finale time ~ Night all!

    Danica-
Could you please explain your stats to me. I don’t understand how you are calculating your points, SF, etc.. for what you eat. I’m new to this whole thing and would like to start doing WW, SF..but I am not understanding how to do it. Can you help?!?!
    Thank you~

      Hi Kelley,

Thanks for asking. I have readers that work both Weight Watchers programs so I try to capture both methods for the program. When you see Daily Points+ – that is the total points+ I consumed for the day. If you are counting points+, this is my daily target. For those following the Simply Filling Method, you eat as many Simply Filling foods as you need to feel satisfied and use your 49 extra Weekly Points Allowance (WPA) for non-simply filling foods. When you see SF+ 3WPA that is the total number of WPA used for non-simply filling foods. If you look at the top of my page, I have an entire section for Simply Filling that explains how to work the program.

      Does that help?

Didn’t Danni look great. So did the “mom of 4”. That is absolutely my favorite show. I also signed up for a spinning class tomorrow night after work. Haven’t spinned for quite some time either. Looking forward to it. I need to add some exercise to my program. Went back to counting points rather than SF and lost 1.2 last week.

    Hi Danica,

Love your blog! I also wear the Active Link and take spin classes as part of my weekly workout regimen. I understand that the Active Link is more geared towards how much you are active throughout the day, versus picking up on the intensity level(s) of your activity. I also understand that you have to achieve your activity baseline, before you can begin accumulating activity points for that day. When I take a 50-60 minute spin class where I am dripping sweat at the end… that typically registers as only a small percentage of my activity baseline and doesn’t even show up as having completed any of the recommended “high” activity for the day. I am curious to know if you have any suggestions or guidance on how to get a more accurate read for certain activities, such as spin?

Thank you for the time and effort that you put into your blog. I love your chatty, upbeat style of writing and I always feel more inspired to stay on track, after reading one of your posts.

      Hi Tricia,

There is a section when you log into active link on line that allows you to “name your activities” so you can earn your true Activity Points for them. I do this when I spin by selecting the bicycle icon and entering moderate to high intensity with the time/duration.

I absolutely love spin class! I am just back to the gym after months off. I walked miles and miles during that time, but decided I really like the gym and since I spend so much time and energy taking care of my 2 kids, husband, and elderly parents, I deserve some time for me! My tailbone is killing me, but I know I will get used to it again! My daughter started track a few weeks ago so I walk at her practice for a good 90 minutes 4 nights a week…yesterday I earned 17 activity pp…my ActiveLink was smoking…:) Please share the speghetti pizza recipe if you can. When I was young we used to make one out of a kid’s cookbook and then we lost the book, such sadness.
