Happy Monday all! I can admit it, I can easily be convinced to get up earlier when there is a FREE Dirty Latte involved The Husband had to be up and out of the house early this morning, but, offered to buy me a drink if I brought him one too….
Ummm, OK! I got my usual ~ Grande FF decaf latte with 1 pump of chocolate (4 points+). I have pretty much decided this is the PERFECT start to a Monday ~ Christmas cups STILL in January
I wasn’t really “feeling” like anything for breakfast so I opted for a simple Yogurt Bowl.
* Banana
* 1 container Chobani Vanilla 0% Greek Yogurt
* Handful Blueberries
* 3 Roasted Walnuts Crumbled
The roasted walnuts totally made this taste like banana cream pie….I am totally adding them to the mix more often. (4 points+)
I am honestly LOVING the Spring Like weather we are having lately ~ it was almost 70 degrees today. My workout today was an awesome 50 minute walk outside in the sunshine…rockin’ out to Slacker Radio. I probably should’ve had a snack before I left though because I was STARVING by the time I got back.
It might’ve been though because I was DREAMING about this delicious sandwich I had planned with this NEW Trader Joe’s HOT & SWEET Mustard.
This is by far my favorite type of mustard ~ I LOVE that there is NO HFC and it’s 0 points+
Simple, yet delicious Ham & Sharp Cheddar Sandwich on Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain Bread topped a little heat & a little sweet cut in 1/2 diagonally (5 points+)
My Spicy Peanut Broccoli Slaw doesn’t look pretty, but, it’s so good and easy to make.
1 1’/2 cups Trader Joe’s Organic Broccoli Slaw Mix
1 Tbsp Trader Joe’s Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette
Crushed red pepper flakes b/c I was trying to make it have some color
1 Points+ ~ crunchy, peanutty, delicious!
Cherries!!!! Yup, from Trader Joe’s too.
Mid afternoon treats included a little Biscoff! 2 cookies & 1 Tbsp Biscoff Spread (which by the way, tastes EXACTLY like the cookies) (4 points+).
The Husband has been requested a Summer BBQ meal for the past week or so. I marinated some New York Strip Steaks in Trader Joe’s Island Soyaki over night and grilled them up today.
My portion 3 ounces cooked (4 points+) ~ his portion, the remaining 2 lbs LOL.
Homemade Potato Salad! (1/2 cup – 3 points+)
BIG salad with 1/8 AVOCADO, cherry tomatoes and topped with Newman’s Light Lime Vinaigrette (2 points+).
I am pretty sure I made his not so great day a little better with this Steak n ‘Potatoes” dinner.
I WISH I knew the secret to days like today where I haven’t used all my points+ and I am not hungry at all. I know I still have points+ left, but, as of now, I am content and do not planning on using them unless my body tells me I am hungry. No worries, I am sure I will be making up for them tomorrow when my stomach realizes it missed out
Q’s
Are you a mustard, ketchup or mayo person?
I absolutely 100% am a mustard girl ~ the fancier the better (Hot & Sweet Rocks, but, I LOVE Jalapeno, Dijon, flavored mustards) on my sandwiches. Ketchup is my favorite thing to dip in aside from BBQ sauce. Mayo….eh, not really ~ I’d rather have good MUSTARD or AVOCADO any day.
It’s Scandalous Bachelor Night, but, I STILL cannot decide if I want to watch or not….Maybe, I’ll just turn it on and see……. ‘)
Tomorrow is girls night out so my post might be up late or up on Wednesday morning.
Night all!
Can you take a picture someday of the TJ’s bread bag? I’ve been looking and I can’t find the kind you get. I LOVE the sprouted 7 grain though… and it’s just 1PP per slice!
hmmm I kinda like all of em! 🙂 OOH I made the WW Chicken freid rice but didn’t use chicken I mad a veggie fried rice the whole family loved it!!
Hi Liz,
Yes, I had a request to take a picture of the bag and plan on posting it soon. I just need to buy another loaf since the one I have is smooshed 😀 It’s a dark bread and the label is teal, orange and red. Picture coming soon though – promise.

I need to find that mustard stat! And I’m so jealous you guys have cherries. I haven’t found them at my TJs!
I LOVE Mustard! I cannot stand Mayo or Ketchup! I dont know why, but I think it might have to do with the fact that I was dared to drink ketchup in elementary school and I got very sick! It was funny at the time, but now I wont eat it unless it have been cooked in something like Meat Sauce or Something like that!
I LOVE mayo and find it difficult to stay away, so I count it! 🙂 As for Trader Joes..I SO wish we had them here in FL. I love going there when we’re on vacation up north, but there aren’t any in my area. Maybe someday!
I wish my love for mayo was more for mustard. I really do like it but it is rarely worth the points it is to eat them. I am trying to be more of a mustard gal but I do love some mayo from time to time… Looking forward to trying the broccoli salad with the TJ dressing. 🙂
Here’s my theory on the Starbucks Christmas cups: they were taking a lot of flack about their cups being non-compostable so now I think they’re making an effort to use up the holiday cups instead of getting caught trashing them. Just a guess.
I LOVE mustard. Not a mayo fan at all (won’t eat anything with it involved), but will use mustard on just about anything.
I am so happy I bought that mustard. Still need to try it but it sounds delicious!!!
Can i just tell you how wonderful it must be to look out the window and see that lovely orange tree in your first picture? lol Midwest snowbound and tired of winter around here!
I am learning to like mustard better these days. Sweet hot is my fav too.
Danica your potato salad looks amazing!! Thanks for sharing!!
I love Hot Sauce!!!
Mayo, Mustard, and Katsup are my 3 go toos! I can make alot of things with them but the mustard is my favorite, No points!!! Your potato salad -what all is in it?
Hi Renee,
I LOVE that tree – it’s our neighbors and they always share their oranges with us. It does make for great pictures. I lived in Missouri for one year and it was enough for me to know I am not a Mid-West gal for sure.
Danica
Hi Colleen,
I put a lot of crunch in my potato salad, but, you could leave out anything you don’t like. Here is a link to the recipe I use to make it up. Sometimes I add red bell pepper for color too.

It is really tasty and I am not even a potato salad person.

I used to be a mayo girl, but have switched to FF mayo or mixture of FF mayo and FF sour cream combo. Like the kick of Dijon mustard. But, have to have my ketchup on burgers and fries.
I used to be a mayo girl pre-WW. Now I can’t stand mayo unless it’s flavored, and I always get that on the side. At home, I rarely use mayo at all.
I am a mustard girl these days. I LOVE mustard. Right now I think I have in my fridge: dijon, honey, sweet and spicy, spicy brown, wasabi, horseradish, and habanero mustards. Oh and yellow too
I just bought that mustard Saturday it is so good!!!
First time commenter here..your NY steak looks SO divine!
I wanted to share that I believe that Disneyland also plays Christmas tunes (jingle bells) in Small World and I think it’s year round. Last year and this year I was there in January and it’s Christmas music when you first enter the ride..so odd..
I LOVE mustard, but mayo is a close second. Everytime I read your blog, I long to go to Trader Joe’s!!! 🙂 Have a great day.
Oh, mustard all the way, but only the regular kind! I don’t like the sweet or spicy ones…i know, lame!
and isn’t the weather just awesome! it’s been in the low 60’s here in the mtns and i’m love’n it!
btw, did you toast your own walnuts? or did you get them somewhere?
total reminder that i better start eating up the greek yogurt in the fridge, oh no i hope it isnt expired. geez the last thing i wanna see is a bunch of mold when i open it up haha. mmmm ur bowl of banana, yogurt, berries and walnuts looks VERY SCRUMPTIOUS! <3
I so wish we had a Trader Joe’s by us (I live in Wisconsin)…your meals looks so awesome. I have a question for you…do you weigh or measure your food before you eat it? I haven’t joined a Weight Watchers, but am doing it on my own following a point list I found online. Just having trouble knowing how much food I can eat!!! Thanks!
Hi Melissa,
I actually roast my own, but, it’s super easy to do and you can do it ahead of time. Pour raw walnuts on a cookie sheet and bake at 400 for 7 minutes. Cool and store in an air tight container in the fridge. Once you roast them this way, you won’t ever want them raw – they are so good!
Danica
HI Michele,
It depends. If I am cooking in bulk and calculating my food for an entire recipe, i.e. 1 lb of meat, I measure it raw. If I am serving it up, as in the steak, I measure it up cooked. I usually measure most things as I put my plate together and just hit the “tare” button on my scale in between each item.
Hope that helps a bit. Great job on working the program so far!
