I love weekends that actually feel like weekends ~ We have had the perfect balance of getting things done, having fun with friends and relaxing. The best part is that we still have another day left ~ love that!
The first thing The Husband requested this morning while we were sipping our coffee was Salsa Breakfast Burritos. Not just any breakfast burrito, but, burrito’s like I made on Friday that he missed out on.
Just as delicious ~ topped with Salsa Fresca (it’s almost gone ~ so sad lol). SF + 1 WPA, 6 points+
After stocking up at the Farmer’s Market we headed over to our friends house to see our adopted niece and so The Husband could help out one of his friends. When all was said and done, we headed over to Mary’s Pizza Shack for big salads.
I started with 2 slices of freshly baked, warm sour dough bread. (SF+3 WPA), 3 points+
Then, I moved onto my crispy, refreshing Mary’s House Salad with Ranch on the side dipped with my fork. As much as I was envious of those having pizza and pasta, this was the perfect light meal for our 108 degree day. (SF+4 WPA for the dressing) – 9 points+
After lunch we did a little shopping before heading home to get out of the heat. When we arrived home, I had a fun package waiting for me from the folks at The Better Chip company.
They recognized my ever so slight addiction to tortilla chips and REAL ingredients and asked if I’d give their brand of chips a go. Of course I said yes ~ have I ever said no to a chip in my life?!
The Better Chips come in 4 flavors that are all naturally gluten free & cholesterol free:
- Sweet Onion and White Cheddar
- Jalapeno and Sea Salt ~ I am so eyeing this bag!
- Red Pepper & Salsa Fresca ~ the first bag The Husband grabbed
- Fresh corn & sea salt ~ perfect for dipping in Homemade Salsa Fresca
They also included a super cute hat and Tee.
I was tempted to open every flavor, but, decided after my chip filled week to share the Red Pepper and Salsa Fresca with The Husband.
I LOVE the fact that they actually put REAL vegetables inside the chip, not just in the seasoning.
100% REAL ingredients that you can recognize and pronounce.
3 points+ a serving – DEAL!!! That is less than regular tortilla chips.
The VERDICT ~ Absolutely delicious and completely addictive! We both totally fell IN LOVE with these chips and will definitely be adding them to our must buy list.
You really can taste the sweet red peppers balanced out with salsa seasoning that make these crispy chips burst with flavor.
Before heading out to watch The Campaign, we both had bowls of No Cook Summer Pasta Salad. I thought the movie was pretty funny, but, you have to love silly humor. I actually think I liked it more than The Husband.
He ate his cold and I headed mine so the fresh mozzarella would melt all over my noodles making them cheesy. (SF+ 2 WPA) – 5 points+.
I am pondering if I should go wash Scooter, bake or to snack on watermelon. I may do all 3 in that order.
STATS: (12am – 8 pm)
- 2,129 calories burned
- 5.055 steps taken
- 10 WPA used, 0 I am over this week on my WPA remaining (26 daily points+)
I am definitely ready for a new week to start next week and looking forward to my meeting tomorrow.
Night all!

Happy Sunday, Danica! I tried those chips last year when the shop in my building at work sampled them as a new product. Absolutely agree with you on the Red Pepper chips you started with — those were my favorite too!
Also, wanted to let you know how you inspired me today to take a trip to the Farmer’s Market and seek out wonderful new things and staples!
New finds today (or never before purchased): 1 large Pattypan squash, 1 medium papaya squash, 1 medium acorn squash, leeks, fairytale eggplants and PLUOTS! (I’d always wondered about them whenever I saw your snack postings on them…LOOOVED them! So sweet! Thank you for introducing me to them via your blog!)
I also picked up some familiar beauties: fresh green beans, garlic, shallots, 2 JUMBO (seriously!) sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, and watermelon. Looking forward to the next trip too! Thank you for your ever-inspiring tales!
Have a fantabulous week….I’ll be reading!!!

The burrito made me hungry on Friday and I am making it for dinner tonight as the husband is going out of town. My mouth is watering just thinking of dinner!

OMG those chips look amazing!!!! I too thought about you when I went to the market, I bought the lemon cukes that you had here in Western New York, and made a spinach, cuke and heirloom tomato salad and the husband loved it!!!!.

Hi Danica! I picked up a bag of the jalapeño chips at Homegoods last month. They were amazing!! I can’t find them in regular supermarket though 🙁 I am totally jealous of the farmer’s markets you have nearby! Here on Long Island there are great ones on the east end- but we are an hour away- the local ones at kind of lame. I should really start making the drive on Sundays.

Those chips do look good! I doubt that I can find them here in Canada but I’m going to be on the look out for them 🙂

I love the Red Pepper one’s! They are soo good! Every weekend when my family travels home from our cabin we stop at an Ice Cream shop. They all get Ice Cream and I usually get a bag of The Better Chips. I know the ice cream is just too high in points for me to justify! But those chips are a nice alternative and soo tasty! Can’t wait to hear how the other flavors are!
