The conditional lunch date

June 13, 2012 by DanicasDaily 5 Comments

Happy Wednesday all!  Thanks for sharing your ideas for what you love to add to your pasta salads on yesterday’s post.  I am pretty sure the possibilities are endless and you can end up with a different result every single time.

Continuing on my trend to “stay cool”, I stopped at Starbuck’s on my way in today because it has been way too long since I’ve gotten “Dirty”.

Venti Iced Dirty Coconut Coffee

(Iced coffee with 1 pump coconut, 1 pump mocha and a splash of 1/2 and 1/2) ~ 2 points+.

I actually planned on having a big yogurt fruit bowl for breakfast, but, I never ended up getting a chance to actually sit down to eat breakfast this morning.

Instead, I grabbed my snacks and went with it ~ banana + Sargento RF Colby Cheese (2 points+)

The Husband had today off and asked me this morning if he could take me on a “date for lunch”.  He totally had an ulterior motive.

I have been craving La Bou ever since we went there last month for a business lunch and have tried to go back a few times since without any luck.

He told me that the one condition of our date is that we finally go to La Bou so I will stop telling him about how much I NEED it in my life Open-mouthed smile

I picked my two favorite things at the moment……hey, whatever works, right lol.

Half a House Salad that is made with butter lettuce, avocado, tomato, cucumber, Jarlsberg swiss cheese and sprouts.  Topped with Creamy Dill Dressing ~ like ranch, but, better (4 points+)

Plus a cup of Spicy Thai Coconut Chicken Soup ~ it’s a little spicy with a delicious lime and coconut flavor without being over creamy. (4 points+)

Their bread is 1 points+ per slice.  La Bou rocks for posting their nutrition facts online which totally makes me want to go here like every day to try everything.

I snacked on this fruit bowl I packed up this morning on my drive home so I didn’t eat everything in the house when I got home.

The Husband grilled up Trader Joe’s Sweet Apple Sausages to go with our leftover tortellini pasta salad for dinner.  I started with half to see if I really needed it, but, then, I decided it was too good to not eat all of it.  (3 points+ per link ~ deal!)

We both agreed the Tortellini Pasta Salad tasted even better today since everything absorbed that deliciously sweet & tangy homemade balsamic vinaigrette. (6 points+)

Off to catch up on this week’s Next Food Network Star and count the days down until vacation!

Night all!

Don’t have La Bou where I live, but I’m getting ready to google for a soup recipe to see if I can create one that is WW friendly. Also, am now spurred to go and get out the sprout seeds and sprouter and start a batch. That salad looked fantastic. Some days it’s hard to stay below points, but I just counted all of yours for the day and thought to myself how totally satisfied I would have been to have had that food for the day. May also need to make a Starbuck’s run on the way to the farmer’s market this morning. Thanks for the great posts. I look forward to all of them.

    Danica,
How do you order this drink at Starbucks (the dirty coconut iced coffee)? I tried to order it (not knowing your exact description above) and they didn’t know what I was talking about. Do you create this yourself or order it and tell them what to put in it? Also, do you add any artificial sweetener? I’m new to Starbucks, just recently fell for it. When they didn’t know what I was talking about, I ordered the closest thing on the menu that I could and ended up with a mocha coconut frappuccino with skim milk and no whipped cream or toppings. It was delish – but 6 points as it turns out! So next time I go I want to be ready to get what I’ve been reading about here, cause it sounds great and is low in points. Thanks!

      Hi Regina,

I created the drink I order sort of. Whenever you order any coffee drink “dirty” it means to add mocha. I do not use artificial sweeteners in anything I order. You can order 2 pumps of any of the flavors of syrup including mocha for 1 points+.

I order my iced coffee by saying this:

“Venti Iced Coffee with 1 pump mocha and 1 pump coconut”. I tell them no room for cream because I find they add way to much. Then, when I get my drink, I add just a splash of half and half.

I use this same methodology for lattes – hot and cold as well, but, I just skip adding the half and half.

Good luck and let me know how it goes 🙂

      Danica
