The Simple Life….

January 11, 2010 by DanicasDaily 8 Comments

I LOVE it when you get everything done for the weekend that you planned by noon and have the rest of the day left to relax and enjoy.  I spent the morning finishing our whole house organization and had the afternoon to relax, watch movies and do well….pretty much nothing 😀

I cannot seem to get enough almond butter and TJ’s bread so it made an appearance for breakfast again (4 pts).

IMG_7532

With a 1 cup side of cantaloupe (1 pt).

IMG_7531

The Husband actually asked for me to grilled up steak for lunch (he’s funny huh?!)  Lucky for him, I had it marinating for dinner.  The cold weather has finally caught up with California because it was COLD yesterday.  I wanted something to warm me up so I decided to check out one of the Muir Glen Organic Soups I had in the pantry.

IMG_7564IMG_7565

I bulked up my soup with some additional Edamame/Black Bean Protein and veggies with this Green Giant Healthy Weight mix.

IMG_7561IMG_7562

I took 1/2 the box of veggies steamed for 3 minutes in the microwave.

IMG_7568

And added 1/2 the soup.

IMG_7569

Plus toppings.  A little spicy guacamole and some crunchy.  I think next time I’d add fresh tomatoes and salsa too.  The soup was pretty tasty for being canned and I LOVED coming across the sweet carrots and crunchy snap peas.  Not a bad bowl for 3.5 pts.

IMG_7572

I bought the Trader Joe’s Nacho Cheese tortilla chips for The Husband because he is a total chip freak.

IMG_7541

I figure if he is going to eat them, they might as well be somewhat good for him and I LOVED what they are made of.

IMG_7542

They are 3 pts a serving and I made sure to share in a serving dipping more in my soup 😀

IMG_7544

Along with a 1 pt colby cheese on the side.  It was honestly the perfect lunch to warm me up and it’s always fun when you can crunch your way through it.

IMG_7546

I sipped some Vitamin 10 water during lunch. I was intrigued by this because it only has 10 calories and it doesn’t use artificial sweeteners (just a little stevia that you don’t taste).

IMG_7550

It wasn’t bad – it reminded me of being a kid and having a glass of Kook Aid that had been sitting around in some ice…..It was like watered down Kool Aid :)  I’d probably get it again for something different to have other than water.

IMG_7549

My stocking came with a little chocolate from Trader Joe’s in it and I have been waiting to try it. Dessert involved a little WHOLE HAZELNUT Swiss Milk Chocolate.

IMG_7554

I LOVE the little flowers…..

IMG_7557

I know it says WHOLE HAZELNUT, but, wow!  I had a 3 pt square for dessert and you know – it was just ok.  I think I might like Belgian Chocolate over Swiss Chocolate…it’s creamier and richer.

IMG_7558

I took a break from our movie watching to whip up a batch of Dark and White Chocolate Chip cookies for The Husband. I used this recipe minus the wlanuts because I didn’t have any. I sampled one for my afternoon snack 😀 ( 3 pts)

IMG_7579

The days workout agenda involved stretching and/or strength training.  I opted for some light stretching in the morning and thought I “might” do some weights in the afternoon.  I think it was the gloomy cold weather , but, I just wasn’t feeling it.  So, I took a break and relaxed watching movies.  We ended up watching Volcano, All About Steve and Shooter.  It was awesome and totally what I needed.

I did break to whip up a Simple Dinner. I had been marinating a Beef Tri Tip in Trader Joe’s Island Soyaki all day ( I freeze it with the sauce so it marinates as it thaws).  I had 4 oz (4 pts).

IMG_7582

I whipped up a batch of my FAVORITE Annie’s Mac n Cheese.  I honestly think I could eat an entire box of their M&C and be totally content :D  I had a 5 pt serving.

IMG_7584

Plus a side of mixed frozen veggies (o pts).

IMG_7583

Nom, Nom, Nom……Easy, simple, delish.

IMG_7588

Ok now that I am all caught up I suppose I should get my bootie going and get into work!  I am PUMPED for todays’ 3 mile run and for THE BACHELOR tonight.  This is the episode where the SCANDLE comes out 😀

Have a good Monday all ~ as good as a Monday can get 🙂

Everything looks yummy! Glad you had a nice relaxing weekend.

Ahh The Bachelor, I have heard all about that scandal AND I happened upon a link on Facebook I wish I had not because it was a major spoiler (ummm yea who he chose in the end, how rude LOL). Not sure if it’s true or not but I’m not going back to that link.

Quick question about running…do you think I should start out every other day or is it OK to run every day. As you know I’m brand new to running and my hip does hurt from yesterday (I did spin and running) and have some slight knee pain but nothing I’m too concerned about at this point. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

    Hi Angie,

Ahhhhh – that is a total BUMMER that they gave it all away. If it is any consolation, I have found a few times in the past that people were wrong with the final selection.

I did find out which girl it was that had the “affair” but STILL I am curious to see how they air it all – fun!

You know, I think the biggest thing you should consider with running is to listen to your body. If your body is sore/hurting, then, you should give it a break. I take anywhere from 1-2 days of complete rest each week and I also do not run every day. Some days I cross train (like your spin class, walking, etc) and other days I strength train. You do not want to over do it especially in the beginning or you can injure yourself and burn out early.

You are doing awesome though, keep up the amazing work!
