Happy Sunday all! How did your first week go towards meeting this month’s challenge? I loved reading all your successes this past week, like Gail hitting over 10,000 steps for the first time ever! Each step motivated me to move more and keep up with everyone. I am pretty happy to report my first weekly average chalking up 60,000+ steps this week – “almost my 10,000 steps per day average goal”. Last week started out great, then, long work hours and a lot of stress took over. I definitely made up for it this weekend by hopping on the treadmill (first time in months) and walking all over the Alameda Antique Faire and then some with The Husband today.
While it’s not a perfect start, it’s definitely a step in the right direction and something to build on next week. 10,000 steps a day average for week 2 is on like Donkey Kong (as The Husband says whenever he challenges me on anything!)
Since The Husband is patiently waiting to watch Anchorman 2 on Demand with me, I am going to post just a few highlights for today.
Goal #2 for this week is tracking every bite! I hope to have time each day to post as well.
Before heading to the fair, we fueled up at Starbuck’s Grande Iced Nonfat Latte with caramel drizzled on top (SF) – 3 points+
I also packed breakfast on the go ~ a banana…..with cookies!
Not just any cookies ~ these Low-Fat Banana Bread Cookies are one of my favorite cookies to make. They are 2 points+ per cookie, however, backing out the Simply Filling Ingredients the come in at SF + 1 WPA each per cookie ~ deal!
We did not end up having Lunch/Dinner until almost 3 pm. We stopped on our way back into town at my favorite sushi place, Yokoso Sushi.
I started with miso (SF) – 2 points+
Simple, side salad with homemade sesame dressing that always makes me think I want to lick the bowl. (SF + 2 WPA) – 2 points+
And quite possibly the best sushi roll ever ~ The Tuna Steak made spicy, dipped in sriracha + wasabi and soy to boot
Spicy Crab topped with Seared Tuna, AVOCADO, green onions, tobiko and a special sauce.
The Husband even braved it and liked it. I had 6 pieces. (SF + 7 WPA) – 7 points+
As of now, I am pretty content but have my eye on the mini watermelons I bought. I have a feeling that will be dinner tonight.
My final goal this week is to focus on dining out less and cooking more. I know with my job it’s not always a choice to dine out less, but, on weeks when I can control it, I plan on taking complete advantage of that by cooking on some tasty meals. I have to admit, I can’t wait to dive into everything we have planned this week.
HERE IS WHAT IS ON THE MENU THIS WEEK:
- This is going in the crockpot tomorrow Slow Cooker Pork Carnitas. We will probably have Chipotle Style Carnitas salads the next day.
- BBQ Chicken with Sweet Potato Home Fries, Swiss Chard
- Grilled Sausage & Pepper Kabobs with Grilled Artichokes (I’ve always wanted to try this!)
- Spaghetti and Meatball Casserole, Salad
- I have a few backup plan ideas as well ~ BLTA’s, Shrimp Scampi & Burgers.
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What is on your menu this week? Are you trying any new foods or recipes? Share away….
Night all!
Although I only have 1 day that was 10K plus, I did have a few others that were close, and it’s 5:45 am here in South FL and I’m getting ready to go out for a walk 🙂 Now your goal of dining out less and cooking at home more is a biggy for me! So I’m gonna try to join you 🙂 Guess I better plan a menu for the week! You have so inspired me each an every day Danica, and I thank you for that!! LOVE your menu!
I’m going to try to do better this week meeting the 10,000 steps each day too. I did better than I normally do last week. I averaged 9600 last week. Yea for me 🙂
Hey there!! I had one day (Saturday) over 15,000 – the rest were around 8,000 – 9,000. Didnt do as much zumba as I wanted!!! I will kick it up this week!!!
