The Surprise….

August 30, 2012 by DanicasDaily 7 Comments

Happy Friday Eve all!  Thanks for all the great comments and emails on the recipes I whipped up for you all this week.  As fun as it is to share recipes with you all, I always miss my daily chats and feel like there is so much to catch up on when I go back to my dailies.  We have had a fun week celebrating The Husband’s Mom’s birthday and dog sitting her dog while she travelled.  Who knew that The Husband was onto something when he left Animal Planet on for her dog when we had to go to work.  I was cracking up at all of you who commented on Facebook stating what channel your animals tune into while you are away.

Since I have been rocking my treadmill workouts this week, I decided I earned a day to sleep in today and I earned a trip to Starbuck’s.

Grande Nonfat Decaf Latte with Caramel drizzled on top (SF) – 3 points+

I will admit I did miss the Turkey Apple Sausage Eggwiches I have been eating all week since I swapped it out for a latte with a banana. (SF) – 7 points+

For a month now my co-workers and I have been “secretly” planning a Surprise Wedding Shower behind the scenes for one of our co-workers.  It took a lot of scheming to keep her out of the know since she sits right next to me, but, we pulled it off!

I made sure we had a meeting on another floor before we left so she didn’t notice everyone decorating her desk and the mass exiting of everyone heading out to lunch.  I even had her bring her wallet with her to the meeting and told her I was taking her to lunch…..she never questioned it.

I told her we just had to go to BJ’s Brewery because there were these Thai Shrimp Lettuce Wraps.  She totally was game and still didn’t even question when I asked where our reservation for “two” was…..she just told me that’s fancy….I played it off saying I thought it might be busy Open-mouthed smile

As soon as we walked around the corner to the atrium….she saw everyone and was completely shocked ~ Surprise!

I LOVE BJ’s Brewery because they have so many delicious things on their menu and even better, they give you the nutritionals when you visit any location in California.  I didn’t see them on their website, but, found them on My Fitness Pal.

My goal of the lunch was to order those Thai Shrimp Lettuce Cups and avoid the appetizers and pizookies.

I “almost” succeeded on the appetizers ~ I totally blame the AVOCADO….I did try the small piece on the left only so there is some success in having half a roll. (SF+2 WPA) – 2 points+

I started with their small plates Fresh Tomato & Mozzarella Salad.  It was tasty, but, I think it would’ve been better with more tomatoes.  (SF + 3 WPA for the cheese) – 5 points+

Then, I really did order the Thai Shrimp Lettuce Cups.  They are my favorite thing at BJ’s and I get them whenever we go.

Grilled shrimp glazed with spicy Thai sauce, served on a bed of Napa cabbage, cilantro, carrots and red onion, all tossed with a fresh, minty mango salsa and sprinkled with toasted coconut. Served in butter lettuce cups with a spicy Thai sauce for dipping.

100% Simply Filling or 7 points+ for the entire plate.

When we came back to the office, she was surprised again to see her desk decorated in her wedding colors and flowers.

The last surprise was having her show up to our staff meeting with a small version of the same cake she ordered for her wedding next month.

It was so funny when she peaked around the corner of the door ready to jokingly say, ok, so no more surprises, right? Just to see this……

Most cake is easy for me to resist….however, this was a Raspberry Champagne Cake with rum custard and a whipped raspberry frosting!

Success in having a super small piece and savoring every single bite. (SF+ 3 WPA) – 3 points+

On the way home, I stopped to pick up The Husband to head over to the Thursday Night Farmer’s Market before heading over to Panera for dinner.

I started off with French Onion Soup.  It is totally worth it to me to use my WPA on their homemade buttery, sour dough croutons.  You could skip them and the cheese to make this soup 100% Simply Filling. (SF+ 2 WPA) – 5 points+

IMG_1603

Plus half a smoked turkey on country bread. (SF + 2 WPA for the bread) – 5 points+

STATS (12 am – 9 pm)

  • 2,285 calories burned
  • 5,710 steps taken
  • 9 WPA used, 4 WPA remaining (30 daily points+)

Just one more day and I am totally counting down until the long weekend begins!

Night all!

Kind off topic but two things for you…..
    1) i was lucky enough to get to go in a whole foods yesterday while traveling. They had “autumn mix” lentils! They are so oretty!!! You need to check ’em out.;) lol
    2) does a body media just sense cqlories in and out or is it a manual putting them in on your part? I am lookingat maybe it or a fit bit and salespeople dont have much in the way of help to offer.

I hate how sometimes my blog pics deceive things. I looked at your cake pic, and it didn’t look like a saucer. It looks like you have a big ole paper dinner plate of cake and I’m like “WHATEVER, 3 points+?” Haha But I know it’s a saucer because my saucer pics come out looking giant, too! LOL
