There’s a new Spicy Peanut Dressing in town….

April 8, 2011 by DanicasDaily 11 Comments

Happy Friday all!  For those of you who said you LOVED salads over soups in yesterday’s post, then, you definitely have to check out this salad that TJ of TJ’s Test Kitchen made for us today ~ it was HUGE, delicious and totally low in points+

I actually started dreaming about lunch before I even dug into breakfast today.  Don’t get my wrong, I LOVE my 5 points+ Egg-Wiches, but, I also LOVE when friends cook delicious food for me tooOpen-mouthed smile

IMG_9323

Berries ~ I can’t wait for the REAL berry season to begin…these were just ok.

IMG_9320

5 minute, 5 points+ breakfast.

IMG_9322

Last week TJ asked me if I wanted to come over for lunch and she would make it all….Everything she makes is delicious and points+ friendly so it didn’t take me long to say YES!

IMG_9360

When I arrived, we were both HUNGRY!! I LOVE her hungry magnet ~ My Hungry is in my pantry Open-mouthed smile

IMG_9363

She made up her Infamous Cream Cheese Won Ton’s for us using these extra thin wrappers ~  10 of these for only 3 points+!

IMG_8447

IMG_9329

Eh, we were too busy chatting to count ~ 19, 20 – it’s all the same Winking smile

IMG_9333

This is the BEST Sweet Chili Sauce you will ever find!!! It honestly makes these Won Tons taste phenomenal and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE dipping pot stickers in it over any other sauce.

IMG_9341IMG_9342

1 Points+ per Tbsp.

IMG_9340

Seeing an entire plate of Cream Cheese Won Tons made me happy especially when I knew I could eat half of them!

IMG_9347

I LOVE all of her bowls and I cannot resist taking pictures of them whenever I come over.  Seriously ~ these bowls make me WANT to eat salad Open-mouthed smile

IMG_9336

Eaten with her fancy forks

IMG_9351

Several of you have asked me if there is a dressing close to my FAVORITE Dressing in the world ~ Trader Joe’s Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette.  I have wondered if this Litehouse Mild Thai Peanut makes the Trader Joe’s version.

IMG_9337

Decent ingredients, but, they are different from the TJ’s version.

IMG_9339

I am liking the stats ~ 2 Tbsp for ONLY 1 Points+ (save a point+ over the TJ’s brand)

IMG_9338

While she worked on the won tons, I assembled our salads….She made my part easy because everything was ready to go.

IMG_9335

TJ’S CHINESE CHICKEN SALADS

IMG_9345

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 1/2 cups napa cabbage, chopped
  • 1/2 cup red cabbage, chopped
  • 1/4 cup sliced red pepper
  • 1 orange, sectioned and sliced
  • 2 Tbsp green onions, diced
  • 3 oz cooked chicken breast
  • 1 Tbsp sliced almonds
  • 2 Tbsp Litehouse Thai Peanut Dressing
  • 1 Tbsp Rice Vinegar

INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Assemble salads starting with the napa cabbage and ending with the rice wine vinegar.

Makes 1 HUGE @$$ Salad for 5 Points+

I actually poured on some of the Sweet Chili Sauce too …This salad kept me full ALL afternoon!

IMG_9357

Dessert!  I really wanted to take all her pineapple home ~ it was so sweet.  Thanks for an awesome lunch TJ ~ everything was amazing, just like you Smile!!

IMG_9366

I actually got pretty lucky today not having to cook lunch or dinner.  When The Husband got home he said he wanted to go to Chipotle and a movie.

I mixed up my usual order for 3 Crunchy Chicken Tacos!

IMG_9370

Each taco came up to 4 points+ when I calculated everything over at Chipotle Fan.

* 3 Crunchy Corn Taco Shells

* Chicken

* Pico De Gallo

* Corn Salsa

* 1/2 order of cheese

* Lettuce

We finally saw PAUL tonight.  It is actually pretty hilarious ~ The Husband LOVES just about every Seth Rogen movie out there.  See it if you haven’t already.

Dessert ~ A tall nonfat decaf latte with caramel drizzle (3 points+)

Q’s

What is one FUN thing you are doing this weekend?

I think we are heading out to find the rest of our living room furniture and go to California Pizza Kitchen!  I am hoping to work a bit on the new Danica’s Daily…..I can’t wait to show you all it ~ it’s looks awesome and the recipe organizer rocks!

Night all!

    LOVE those won tons! I’ve been using that Thai Peanut Dressing for a few months, and always have to have an extra bottle in my fridge..can only find it at Super Target! For me this week-end it’s a walk into our downtown area (Atlantic Ave) to shop for shoes, and stop at a local eatery for a drink at the outside bar and a late lunch…over a 2 mile walk which I LOVE!!

    Love the salad. It looks like the perfect weekday lunch, and I always have leftover chicken on hand.

    I check your blog (and TJ’s) everyday and learn so much! I haven’t tried the potstickers yet, but bought the wrappers. . . but will definitely try that salad this week! I didn’t know about the Chipotle Fan site, that’s awesome! You asked what we were doing this weekend: husband and I are hosting our book group tonight. We read “The Help,” great book. . . it’s set in the south so we are cooking up a mess of Southern food – shrimp and grits, pecan crusted catfish, southern greens with smoked turkey, jalapeno corn muffins and strawberry short cake. Then tomorrow we’re headed down to Sonoma to Ramekins Culinary School for a cooking class. As always, our weekends seem to revolve around food! Good luck furniture shopping!

    HI Jennifer,

    The Nasoya wrappers have decent stats as well. You get 8 of the small square won ton wraps for 4 points+. They can be found at any grocery store in the fridge section near the produce where they have all the Asian type noodles and tofu products.

    Good luck!

    Danica
