To Bread or Not To Bread….

April 10, 2012 by DanicasDaily 14 Comments

Happy Tuesday all! I have decided I am just going to have to move on to find another bread I LOVE until I can convince Trader Joe’s to bring back their Fat Free Multi-Grain Bread.  I might just have to start graveling, begging. pleading….something, nothing compares to that 3 points+ bread.  It’s just not the same…..

I spent way too long in the bread section yesterday with my points+ calculator in hand.  Several breads that I normally would LOVE have way too many points+ (like 5-6 for 2 slices) and others, well, they taste just so healthy LOL.

I finally ended up with 2 types in hand and this morning I tried Milton’s Healthy Whole Grain Bread for my 7 points+ egg-wich.

It was just OK…it tastes really healthy and I couldn’t even begin to fool The Husband with this one.

The good thing about all that fibery goodness ~ I wasn’t hungry all morning and didn’t even realize it was time for lunch when lunchtime rolled around.

Last night, The Husband made up a 4 Chef Salad’s for us ~ 2 for dinner and 2 for lunch.

Topped with Black Pepper Almond Slices, “Fried Onions” and 2 Tbsp Bolthouse Lite Yogurt Ranch for 6 points+.

I was still hungry after lunch and pondered a few things that I brought with me.  In the end, I decided on this Pink Lady Apple for a 0 points+ dessert.

Mid afternoon I was totally eyeing the candy jar that was stocked with Reese’s PB Eggs, Mini Twixes and Snickers.  I actually bought a bag of Trader Joe’s Salty & Sweet Trail Mix that I put up next to the jar to share.

Guess which one I picked and it was definitely more satisfying than the chocolate that would’ve left me hungry ~ go me! (4 points+)

I really missed out on walking to/from the train and at lunch today since it was pouring rain all day.  When I walked in the door, we both agreed soup and grilled cheese sandwiches sounded delicious.

Grilled Ham & Cheese on Cracked Sour Dough (8 points+)

IMG_6255

  • 2 slices Cracked Wheat Sour Dough (3 points+ ~ not bad, but, it’s kinda dry)
  • 1 slice the real deal Sharp Cheddar (2 points+)
  • 1 oz Honey Ham (1 points+)
  • 1 Tbsp Whipped Butter for the crispy, butter, crust

Served up with 1 cup Trader Joe’s Organic Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup (3 points+)

He dipped his sandwiches while mine never touched!

Off to relax, compete against The Husband getting the highest score in Bejeweled Blitz (OMG! I am so addicted!) and snack on half a personal watermelon for dessert!

Night all!

years ago on ross matthew’s blog a restaurant he went to dropped some item he loved – so he posted their phone number and asked everyone to call and ask for it back on the menu. They ended up putting it back on the menu AND giving him a job as spokesman! You should try that!

That grilled cheese looks so yummy! Sadly I have seen many things go from TJ’s and even calling they don’t bring em back! How about the amazing sourdough from the Julien bakery? It’s 1 pt + per slice I like it really filling but it does taste healthy, I usually only use one slice cause it is so filling. Oh and when I first read your post title I thought it said To Breed or Not to Breed!! LMAO I was like what the heck is Danica posting!! 🙂

That is too bad about the Trader Joe’s bread.. You might want to try Killer Dave’s Bread Light and it is 3pt+ for two slices and it is so good! It is all that I use for my sandwiches anymore 🙂

    PS I love your blog

Have you tried Progresso’s High Fiber Creamy Tomato Basil Soup? So delicious! It is only 1 pt for 1 cup the old way. Not sure on the new way. I make it often. YUMMY!!!

Try “Sprout” bread at TJ’s. 1pt per slice. I like it toasted the best:)

Hang in there with the bread choices, eventually the taste buds change. Grilled cheese and tomato soup is such a good comfort meal.

Do you have a Costco membership? Ours has this alpine valley organic bread. Its a smaller slice, but its 2 slices for 3 points. Lots of fiber too. They have 2 different varieties.

      Hi Randi,

We do have a Costco membership. I went there today and they didn’t have anything called Alpine Valley or any organic breads for that matter. I wonder if it is local to your Costco?

Thanks for the suggestion though ~ I will definitely look out for it!
