Hi all! How was your weekend? We had such a fun time road tripping this weekend to Reno and South Lake Tahoe. I have one confession to make in that I did not count my points this trip. Instead, I focused on eating intuitively stopping when satisfied and only eating what was delicious. I think it helps that I really do crave the healthier things…maybe because the more you eat them, the more you want them?
We kicked off our weekend heading to Reno Friday afternoon. We got in steps walking around the Biggest Little City. Then, stopped for lunch at Michael’s Deli. I love this place!
I had the Caprese Salad. He had the Mile High Pastrami that really is huge and he finishes it all every time. After lunch we did a little shopping (translation antiquing for him) and I snapped pictures of these two quotes I loved. We had dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. I love their bread and probably ate way too much of it. With dinner, I had Prisoner wine which was also delicious!
We shared this crazy Cobb salad sans the stinky Cheese.I picked the Chilean Sea Bass for my entree. It was tasty but a bit sweet to me so I only had half of it.On Saturday, we headed over to South Lake Tahoe. We walked all along the bike trail getting in 24K steps!?It was worth it though as we ended up at this beach. I think it’s so cool that you can stand on the beach in 70 degree weather with snow on the mountains in the background.Cheese – yep he didn’t want his picture taken and would only do silly stuff like this each time I tried. Posting it anyway 🙂We had dinner at my favorite place in Tahoe – Chart House. I could (perhaps should) make a meal out of the salad bar.?But, I can never resist their entrees. I had the Alaskan Halibut Blackened with Shrimp and Avocado Corn Salsa.
It was so good and literally melted in your mouth. I actually ate all the fish skipping the veggies and rice.?Both days we had bacon and eggs for breakfast with today’s at Alpine Union.I balanced out my plate having only 1 piece sourdough with the butter on the side (most times I do not need it), having only 2 pieces bacon and 2 hashbrown bites. I always put the ‘extras’ on another plate as it makes it easier to eat just what I have here.I did have a tall nonfat cappuccino for our drive and we had Jersey Mike’s on our way back into town.He told me to relax and he would take care of dinner. I honestly had no idea what he would make because we had not shopped or planned anything for the week.
This is one of his favorite meals so I should’ve guessed it.
Aidell’s Chicken Apple Sausage with Mac & Cheese.Tomorrow I plan to get fully back in track and counting everything again. Our menu this week is to ‘wing it’ and work with what’s in the house. I’ll stop at the local farm stand for fresh fruits / veggies tomorrow.
Honestly lately I’ve been struggling to feel motivated so I hope my mini break helps me bust through the rut.
Night all!
