Happy Friday Eve all! Thanks for all the fun comments on my Wordless Wednesday this week! I think they are both pretty hot, but, you know, I kinda like JP’s look LOL
Before I jump into my recap, I just wanted to say that I am being “aware” of what I am eating and listening to my body, but, I am not going to be hard core with my points+. I will list them to see how I am doing, but, I am on vacation and made the decision beforehand to go with the flow and enjoy. Sometimes I work and other times I enjoy it ~ this trip, I NEED a break.
We were up at 4:30 am yesterday to head to Vegas. I packed up my breakfast (4 points+ of Quaker Oatmeal Squares) and a banana.
Then, we stopped by Starbuck’s for the drive ~ Venti Iced Dirty Coconut Latte (Nonfat, Decaf Latte with 1 pump Mocha & 1 pump Coconut) (4 points+)
The Husband is sort of IN LOVE with his new Father’Tropical Dad’s Day hat ~ he is wearing it in Vegas to keep his head cool….he looks so cute ~
Once we arrived, we were both STARVING. I knew exactly what I wanted ~ Samurai Sam’s (they NEED these in California by us!) I LOVE places that include all their nutritionals too!
It’s a simple teriyaki bowl place, but, you have your choice of lean, grilled meats over brown rice, white rice, soba noodles or steamed veggies.
I started off with a Grilled Egg Roll (6 points+) ~ I was starving so this tasted pretty amazing.
I picked the small grilled teriyaki chicken bowl with SPICY Teriyaki Sauce over brown rice ~ LOVE! (11 points+) but you could totally save on points+ by getting all veggies. I was hungry enough I wanted the rice!
After lunch, we headed to a few stores, then, to Old Town Vegas (Fremont Street) ~ one of our favorite places. The COVERED mall makes it so much cooler to stand the 107 degrees of heat! It’s hotter this year than it was last year, I think!
We decided to eat dinner in old town at Triple George’s Grill. It honestly looks like a dive from the outside, but, when, you get inside it’s beautiful.
We got to sit in our own “private booth” which made it fun.
I was totally hoping that the carrots were pickled too. I LOVED the big peppers and am totally going to find some.
I also had a slice of their HOT sour dough bread (3 points+)
We shared a house salad with Balsamic on the side (2 points+). I gave The Husband the croutons and onions.
Their “Petite” New York Steak was still pretty huge ~ my guess about 6-8 ounces cooked. I shared everything on my plate with The Husband (he got a steak sandwich too).
This steak was SO TENDER you could cut it with a fork…it literally melted in your mouth!
3 shrimp plus about 3 oz cooked steak (6 points+ estimate)
I think this might be the HUGEST broccoli head I’ve ever been served. I ate all the carrots (2 points+), 1/3 of the potatoes (5 points+) and shared the broccoli with The Husband.
I WISH I thought like him sometimes ~ he LOVED their fries but said he would rather eat my broccoli than fries….see what I mean?!
This place is definitely on our top 3 list of BEST STEAK places ever.
After walking around, gambling a little and making our daily donation to the casinos , we headed back to our Time Share (you can see pictures of it here) to swim.
The Husband has been talking about Root Beer Floats so I whipped them up for us to enjoy.
How cute are these mini cans?! (3 points+ each) plus 1/2 c Slow Churn Lite (2 points+)
I am wearing my WW Pedometer for fun ~ 12,284 steps yesterday!

Hey Danica! My husband and I went to Vegas a few months ago. The best restaurant we ate at there was called the Grand Luxe Cafe in the Venetian. We were completely surprised by the quality of the food there. It is a sister restaurant to the Cheesecake Factory. Normally I try no to eat at chains when I travel, but this was the most delicious and cheapest food we had the whole time! And this was after eating at Bobby Flay’s Mesa and some other fancy buffet. Just in case you need somewhere to try 🙂 Have fun!

What a fun recap!!!! I cracked up about the donation to the casinos! Keep having a great time! Say hi to Barry Manilow for me if you see him! (silly…)

We’re staying in a time share in Vegas too. Have you heard of the buffet of buffets? For 45.00. you can eat for 24hrs at 7 different buffets. Check it out on yelp. in my opinion, only 3 are really worth doing.

Glad you both made it to Vegas safely and I 100% agree with your not counting on vacation. It’s your time to just enjoy yourself and not overly worry about things. Besides, listening to your body can be just as good!
I’ve sadly never ever been to Vegas. T.T I hope to change that one of these days but I am such a bad trip planner. I am scared of commitment I think!
P.s. I really want a root beer float now! I hope it was good as I imagine. ~.^

Also soo wanna try Serendipty ice cream place! We also ate at the resturant in the The Plams I can’t remeber the name but it has a fab view of Vegas.

I was just in Vegas last week- My absolute favorite thing to do in Vegas is to go to the Parasol Cafe bar in the Wynn. ( go at dusk when its just getting dark) Sit outside overlooking the waterfall, have a drink and enjoy the phenominal laser light/musical show they put over the waterfall. It is amazing. And the drinks are fantastic.

I went through a 2-year vegan stint. I could hardly wait to go to Ronald’s Donuts in Las Vegas where most of their donuts are vegan, and they are delicious! I wasn’t thinking about calories back then . . .ha ha. Have a great trip!

LOVE Vegas! I visited there many years ago (70’s) when my Aunt lived there, but now I go on a regular basis since my company has an office there…usually don’t get to have much fun tho, but we try to shop 🙂 Try to go to the new H&M store, I think it’s in Csesar’s Palace, but not sure…it’s several floors and the bargains are fantastic…many people ship boxes of clothes back to South Florida when they go!

We absolutely LOVE Vegas!!! However, it wasn’t until our most recent trip there that we actually ventured beyond our normal “digs”. We normally stay at Bally’s and only hit up those hotels/casinos in that general area. Last year, we ventured out of our comfort zone…and actually walked…a LONG way! We ended up down by the Wynn hotel…and made it to MGM Grand (very luxe!!!), Luxor, Venetian, etc….and we even caught a show at Rio (Penn & Teller). My favorite thing to do is people watch….you see so much in so little time. Love it!!!
As a sidenote, our eating habits are not nearly as controlled as yours!!! But I will be taking notes for our next endeavor out there (hopefully this fall!!!)
