Pens and Pencils!
I loved buying new colored pencils and crayons. There is something magical about these boxes of perfectly sharpened (and perfectly ordered!) school supplies.

Back in my day it was colorful book covers. Now I like to go to Walmart and buy 40 pens, 40 packs pencils and 40 100 page spiral notebooks and donate them to a school for teachers to give out to students so everyone in his/her class has supplies.

Favorite back to school item growing up: Trapper Keepers. Remember those? And then figuring out what I was going to plaster all over the inside of my locker. Cut outs from magazines (hello, Seventeen!) and inspirational words.

HANDS DOWN – my favorite school supply: PENCIL BOX! It was the end all/be all for me – and totally dictated how the year would go. If I found an awesome super cool pencil box – the year was going to be great. If I found a lame one – I was going to have the worst year ever! 😉

Theres nothing like the smell of the 64 pack Crayola crayons when you opened the new unbroken perfectly sharpened pack for the first time.
I loved getting my pencil pouch together: having new pens and erasers and pencils made me feel so prepared and excited to start school again!

SUCH a great giveaway! i always have to borrow my mom’s costco membership anytime i want to buy bulk! it’s such a great way to save money, but not always the most convenient. a membership of my own would be so awesome!

My favorite back to school item was new clothes! I have two older sisters, so back to school was the only time that I ever got new clothes. The rest of the time I wore hand me downs (which is fine), but it was a special treat to have something of my own!
I loved going school shopping! I still do since I am a first grade teacher. I loved getting my new lunchbox and my backpack the most. I will be sooo happy if I win because I could so use a little Wal-Mart money for some of my students. It breaks my heart to see some kids without the proper supplies and the “cool” crayons.

Oh my goodness, I used to LOVE going to Staples in mid-August to shop for school supplies! Mini staplers, planners (I am still obsessed, let me tell you), notebooks, colorful pens, markets, posters, binders… you name it, I bought it! The funniest thing is though, I never really took notes or anything with the stuff I bought… and come when school was over, half the stuff I did purchase was never used… but you know what else is funny, I would be right back at staples that following August buying more stuff! I just cannot get enough!
I was actually in a Staples today and my friend and I were running up and down the aisles like little kids in a candy store! I have a feeling Sam’s Club has such a better selection for 1/2 the price, but sadly I have NEVER made my way into a Sam’s Club because… I have never had a membership (which I have ALWAYS wanted)… I felt like I was never part of the “club”! It would rock if I could, that’s for sure!!! Although, perhaps it would be a good idea for me not to because I think I would be in there 2x a week buying anything & everything! ha ha!

back-to-school shopping was (and still is!) one of my absolute favorite times of the year. actually going to school? eh, not so much. i’m definitely a new pens & pencils kind of girl. however, speaking of back-to-school items, my favorite school lunch snack was dunkaroos – bought in bulk at sams, of course! they were the BEST. not even sure if they make them any more…
I never loved back to school shopping because it meant the end of summer, but I did enjoy picking out all new colors of folders and notebooks!
