Happy Friday Eve all! I LOVE that I managed to entice some of you out of lurking by asking if you wanted to be part of my LINK LOVE! I hope to finish updating my new Blog Roll this weekend (fingers crossed) and adding all of you :).
Thanks to our new Central Heat & Air, I was up early to do my workout. I think we have both gotten so used to the freezing cold that we were HOT when the heater kicked on this morning. I honestly think I had a good “sauna’ workout added to my run LOL.
I am proud of myself for pushing through my run playing Treadmill Games for 27 minutes. I honestly didn’t want to workout at all, but, I remembered that something is better than nothing.
I started my day off with a Venti Iced FF Decaf Latte (3 pts).
Then, it was time for a little Egg Lovin’ from The Husband 🙂 (2 pts)
With a side of “grits” (said with a southern accent of course). 2 pts.
I was really trying to NOT have a morning snack because I knew there was a BUNCH of celebrating happening today. But, my stomach was a rumbling after 3 hours so I had a 50% Reduced Fat Cabot Cheese. These 1 point cheese squares are my FAVORITE since they taste like full fat cheese.
Birthday Celebration #1 started at lunchtime! We took my friend out that I made the Tiramisu Cupcakes for. Since she gave up meat for Lent she wanted a place where she could have meat. We headed out to Buckhorn’s Grill ~ The Husband’s FAVORITE tri tip place.
I got my YIK YAK FIX ~ “An oriental salad with south of the border flair; a crisp mix of greens, cabbages, jicama, red peppers, snow peas, tossed with sweet sesame dressing & topped with toasted almonds”
Layers and layers of crunch ~ I LOVE the jicama and big red bell pepper slices. I do not eat the tortilla to save a little on points because this salad is HUGE! (10 pt estimate on the high side)
Speaking of Birthdays…I got a “gift” too!…Do you all remember when I won Biz’s Birthday Giveaway? My prize arrived today.
These Le Creuset Silicone Prep Bowls might be the cutest bowls I’ve ever seen. I cannot wait to use them in my recipes, for snacks and to put on my plate – SO FUN!
I can officially be like a Food Network Star now with this Bamboo Salt Container. I LOVE that it has a sliding lid so you can just add a pinch and close. THANKS SO MUCH BIZ ~ I seriously LOVE it all 😀
Dinner was Birthday Celebration #2 and I knew this was going to be a challenge ~ Texas Roadhouse! But, I did my research this morning checking out their menu and asking everyone what I should get.
Of course, Quinn told me to make sure I had one of their AMAZING sweet, buttery rolls. I am super proud of ME that I only had one and I resisted the cinnamon butter! (3 pts)
To keep my mouth busy while everyone munched on rolls and appetizers, I snacked on my side salad with Italian dressing on the side. (3 pts)
I took TJ’s recommendation for my dinner and ordered exactly what I wanted and it WASN’T on the menu.
Grilled chicken breast with no sauce or anything on it. I LOVE that it came out looking “HEART” healthy 😀 I ate half about 3 oz for 3 pts.
Plus a plain baked potato that I dipped in ketchup. I LOVED the thick pieces of sea salt on it! I ate all of my potato but it wasn’t HUGE. (4 pts)
To make sure my potato came out plain, I told them to put everything on the side…then, I didn’t use it :D
The Husband picked Texas Roadhouse entirely to embarrass his buddy. When it’s your birthday, they bring out a “horse” and saddle you up.
Then, they give you a “napkin” rope and you have to wave it above your head while everyone says “YEEHAW!” GOOD TIMES! 😀
There you have it ~ I LOVE celebrating the friends in our lives and their birthdays (especially when they are OLDER than us) :D
I feel good about the choices I made too ~ all healthy, a little higher in calorie/point day, but, that’s what your extra points are for after all. I will just work harder the rest of this week to burn some more calories.
Have a GREAT FRIDAY all! Get ready for another PHOTO FRIDAY tomorrow 🙂
Great Job on eating so well today!!!! You did such a good job of resisting temptation but still managed to have a little “fun.” I think you ate great – i’m convinced it will take a lifetime to try and not use special occassions as a reason to eat whatever you want…that applies to me at least and it is always a battle but the more “methods” and strategies (like you eating your side salad while everyone had rolls) you practice the easier it becomes to eat healthier at those times. Good jon on running too!!!!! Totally agree – some is better than nothing- tht is a hard, but rewarding, habit to get into…especially when you are all or nothing like me!!!!! Great job!!!!
Oh my mom LOVES Buckhorn Grill’s tri tip salads! We’ve gone there in SF (under the shopping mall) everytime we’re there, including both times after our marathon/half marathon. She just raves and raves about that tri-tip! haha
Great job with the healthy choices at Texas Roadhouse! Love your baked potato strategy!
Wonderful job with the healthy choices! Looks like you had a great time!
