Happy Easter all! I hope you all had a great holiday weekend. Most things were closed today to celebrate the holiday so we spent today walking around Santiago, getting lost in the huge mall, Parcque Arauco and dining on Food Boulevard again.
I love that just about every place offers Al fresco dining (outside) with bands playing like this.
Today’s eats we learned a few things. I turned my breakfast sandwich into something delicious by topping it with this mushroom, Pepper, onion mix. We stopped at Starbucks as we walked around town and I’m proud to say I successfully ordered my grande Nonfat iced latte with caramel just on top in Spanish. For the record, Starbucks is the only place here that serves iced coffee. I’ve gotten the funniest looks at other places lol.
Lunch was definitely the highlight. We ate at Frank’s. The Husband had the crazy big brisket sandwich that tasted better than some BBQ places we have at home. He picked bacon cheddar Pappas Fritas for his side. My first reaction was omg, cooked bacon! My second was…Is that Mac & cheese sauce with cheddar cheese – yep! These fries taste as amazing as they sound.
My “Moma” salad was tasty. Grilled chicken, walnuts, cucumber, tomato, red onion and goat cheese (I asked for no cheese but that didn’t happen). The greens were an interesting mix of lettuces, swiss chard and kale. Served up with honey balsamic on the side. It definitely hit the spot as I was craving salad.
Dinner was less exciting but quite entertaining as I think what we wanted & what we ordered was lost in translation. My pasta was fettuccine with pomodoro & pesto. It was not the fresh tomato & basil topper I imagined but instead was like tomato basil soup. The Husband ordered salad with his steak and they told him to pick 3 toppings…Which he did. We didn’t know you had to pick lettuce as one so he got a plate of olives, cucumber and tomato 😀
