We decided to spend our first day in Nice walking around the city to check out the city center, architecture, old Nice, the farmers market and the Promenade de Anglais.
Our first stop….walking through the shops at City Centre on our way to the only Starbucks we saw in the city!I was surprised to find anything iced on the menu and I think I have found my favorite new drink – an iced cappuccino.
Layers of espresso, milk and creamy foam make this just like a coffee milkshake. We looked around for a quick quiche or bakery for breakfast but did not really find anything that sounded good.
I loved watching the pizzas and desserts being made for the day in several shops we passed. My desire to have an egg sandwich was pretty intense and honestly I was excited to see a McDonald’s.
We had bacon egg mcmuffins that had the egg fully cooked – success! We continued our walk down to Old Nice to check out the daily Flower & Farmers Market. This market has everything.
You begin with rows of flower of all types.
Then beautiful veggies and fruit.
The biggest mangoes I’ve ever seen.
Dried nuts, fruit and pickled/sugar coated items too.
The section I’d buy from every day – Olives! Look how many types they have.
There are a few artists painting and craft vendors as well as meat and stinky cheese vendors too.
Nice is such a cool place mixed with a big city feel like New York and a rich history with amazing older buildings. We wondered all over the city snapping pictures at every corner.
We grabbed a quick grab and go lunch to take to the beach at Les Choix d’ Anna. Every item we ordered was $6 Euro and so delicious. We shared everything.
Tomato Mozzarella salad.2 box pastas – Talligate with tomato basil and cheese ravioli with bolgonese.
We sat on the chairs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea devouring our pasta then walked along the Promenade de Anglais.
It was tricky getting pictures as not everyone had swimming suits on.We had dinner outside at O’Palermo Pizzeria and shared every delicious bite. This was my balancing factor – enjoy everything in moderation – like half lol.
Caprese salad.Pepperoni and Pepper Pizza – they served us each half and it was huge.
Profiteroles for dessert! Think puffed pastry like eclairs stuffed with vanilla ice and drizzled with homemade chocolate sauce, whipped cream and cocoa.
We could’ve licked the plate! My next recap will be Menton and Monaco.
