Hawaii Christmas Vacation – Day 11 & 12

Hi all! One thing I have loved doing each morning in Kauai is taking a walk to what we call the Cliffs beach. We walk along the path that takes you near the golf course then the beach trail until you reach this beach along the Cliffs. I think this is also near Queens Bath (a hike we have scheduled later this week).The other thing I’ve fallen in love with….these mini white chocolate covered macadamia nuts. I’m glad I only bought the 9 pack.We spent the day hanging out by the pool, the beach, a little shopping and our Christmas Eve dinner was at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. The Husband and I shared the chopped salad. We had family style honey bacon Brussels sprouts which I pretty much ate all of with my  Chilean Sea Bass that came with a pineapple sweet potato hash.  The cheesecake was shared by the entire table making for a perfect sweet finish to our dinner.Our post dinner entertainment had us all laughing and  snapping away – my sister’s fiance and The Husband.For Christmas day, we planned a day trip and picnic to Waimea Canyon. Just as beautiful as the Grand Canyon with all the vivid reds, greens and waterfalls.

You get a great view of the beach on your drive up the mountain.Despite being cloudy, you could still see all the colors. Pictures just do not do this justice.They had a local vendor at the first lookout selling fresh pineapple, coconut and baked treats. My mom, niece and I were the only ones in the group who loved raw coconut. It’s nutty, but, not too coconutty or sweet.

On our way back into town, we stopped at Poipu Beach for Hawaiian Shaved ice. We shared a pineapple, banana, coconut shaved ice with vanilla bean in the middle.

Our Christmas dinner – BBQ and games poolside – so fun! I had BBQ chicken, salad with our farmers market finds and a baked potato. I also tasted the coconut cream and banana cream pies.I managed to get in all my steps both days at 14K and 11K too.
