Happy Weekend all! Today marks my last Hawaii Christmas Vacation recap. Thank you all for joining me on our travels, the recommendations, being patient with my sporadic eats/posts and all the nice comments. It really made it like you all were with us along the way.
Fun fact – every single picture and post this go round was from my phone. It’s sorta ironic as I did not have to pack a computer for once, but, I did bring my computer thinking I’d use it to post. My computer never left my bag making this my first real vacation in years. It was awesome but tough to decide what pictures to post since I manually upload each one this way.
We had big aspirations on our last day to go to Queen’s Bath, the Lighthouse and hike to a waterfall. Not all of that happened.
We started our day walking to the Queen’s Bath trail only to find out that due to the rain, you had to walk through knee high puddles.
Instead we continued our journey to Fort Alexander at the top of the St. Regis hotel. The view is just beautiful.I also saw a “fish” plant along the way – see it below on the bottom right??
Our next stop was the Kilauea Lighthouse.
You do not have to hike there, just park and walk up this little trail.
Along the way we saw random geese in the bushes.
Geese families….the babies are so cute!
This Nene crossing sign makes me laugh every time I see it, but, I do not really know why.
All of the white dots on this mountain are the Nene birds.
I could watch the waves crashing up the wall all day.
The Lighthouse is so pristine.
At the top, we had the chance to watch a whale playing in the water. I was never fast enough to catch him/her with their tale out of the water.
We saw this bird family on our walk back down. This red headed bird is The Husband’s favorite.
Did you know their heads are brown when they are babies?
We watched the mom and dad get food and feed the baby….all while the baby demanded more food, faster lol.
We were all pretty tired and the rain rolled in so we skipped the waterfall. Next time!
Breakfast was the last of our farmers market fruit, eggs and sausage. Lunch was at the Bistro. I ate about 1/2 of the BBQ burger and fries as it was just OK. I made sure to get my last Hawaiian Shaved ice fix and we had Hawaiian Pizza and salad for dinner. We finished the night playing games then packing while it stormed outside.Today we are getting settled back into life – I had fun on our vacation but I missed home and our routine

Night all!
I’m happy you made it to the lighthouse. It was the highlight of my trip/honeymoon 13 years ago. My husband and I were married on Kauai (bluff overlooking Hanalei Bay). Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Thank you for sharing and taking the time out of your vacation to do this. I haven’t been back to the Islands since 1987. All of your posts have “sparked” me wanting to return. Have a safe trip home and be prepared for some chilly weather. I live in Marin and know that it’s just as cold in Napa!! Aloha
Loved your posts, Hawaii is beautiful!
