Hi all! My second working day in Chile involved a long trip (about 1.5 hours) to the winery. I learned something new about Chile too. I asked why everyone backed into their parking spots, honestly thinking I couldn’t do that lol. The reply, for a quick get away. At first this made me laugh then I realized that it made sense in case of an emergency. The winery is so beautiful and I absolutely love the gardens. Here are a couple of quick photos I took on this visit. You can see more in my pictures from last year.
Breakfast was the usual eggwich and lunch was at a local restaurant in Requinoa. We started with the mini empanadas. What I’ve learned is empanadas are kinda like chocolate – you do not know what your going to get until you bite inside. I was hoping for cheese, potato or beef but I got seafood. Everyone at the table said that meant I was lucky but I thought um no :). They then convinced me to try a razor clam after telling me they were safe to eat them during red season because they are cooked. I actually loved these probably because they tasted like garlic & cheese more so than clam. Lunch also involved wine, bread, beef (I only had a couple bites) and my two sides – mushrooms and Spicy Mashed Potatoes. Both were amazing but not spicy at all. For dessert I had vanilla ice cream with dulche de leche!
After I returned from the winery, we stocked up at the grocery store to get ready for census day then headed over to Food Boulevard for dinner.
Dinner at Rosso Italiano was hands down my favorite dinner of the week. We shared the caprese salad (mixed greens topped with tomato, corn, egg and fried mozzarella balls) and our Pizza Americano (pepperoni, oregano, whole black olives and mushrooms).
Daily Snap Recap:
I couldn’t resist snapping the sunset on our walk back to the hotel.
Have an awesome Friday all!

I have enjoyed your photos knowing that I probably will never visit South America. I don’t want to be rude, but what exactly are you doing in Chili for your company? Are you touring the winery, auditing the books, etc.? No matter what, you are very fortunate to be able to visit such interesting countries.

Hi Peggy,
No offense taken. I work for a large global wine company and I am in charge the Americas (North & South America) for all things related to finance, accounting, compliance, and IT. I am very lucky as the team does spoil me when I visit even though my visit involves alot of meetings, etc. I really try to plan a few days off during my trips so I can explore.
Thanks for asking,
Danica
